Oleksandr Vishniak was born on June 30, 1956.
He graduated from Kyiv State University. Taras Shevchenko (Faculty of Philosophy) in 1978. From 1981 to 1990 he worked at the Institute of Philosophy of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
From 1991 he worked at the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where from 2006 to 2019 he headed the Department of Socio-Political Processes.
For more than a quarter of a century, Oleksandr Vishniak has headed a sociological firm Ukrainian Sociology Service, which is one of the five most professional companies in the sociological services market.
He died on September 15, 2019.
Research interests: electoral sociology, sociological typology of the regions of Ukraine, historical identity, language situation in Ukraine, the attitude of the population to the party system.
